Welcome to the summary page for FabulousFusionFood's Cook's Guide entry for Baking along with all the Baking containing recipes presented on this site, with 2205 recipes in total.
This is a continuation of an entire series of pages that will, I hope, allow my visitors to better navigate this site. As well as displaying recipes by name, country and region of origin I am now planning a whole series of pages where recipes can be located by meal type and main ingredient. This page gives a listing of all the Baking recipes added to this site.
These recipes, all contain Baking as a major wild food ingredient.
Baking is the process of the prolonged cooking of food by the conduction of dry heat. This is normally done in an oven, but can also be performed on hot ashes or heated stones.
Primarily baking is used in the preparation of goods such as bread, cakes, pastries and pies and as such these are generally termed 'baked goods'. Though baking is also used in the preparation of baked potatoes, baked fruit (most notably apples, pears and quinces), beans, custards, hams and pasta dishes. Most of these goods contain high starch levels and the prolonged dry heating of baking changes the structures of starches in the food and causes its outer surfaces to brown, giving it an attractive appearance and taste, while partially sealing in the food's moisture.
For all the baking recipes on this site see the baking and baked goods recipes page.
