Modern Redaction
Ingredients:
1 rib of beef bones
1 onion, finely chopped
a few slices of carrot and turnip
150ml beef gravy
hot mashed potatoes
Method:
Use rib bones that still have a covering of meat and saw them into pieces about 8cm long. Season liberally with salt and black pepper then place in a pan with the onion, vegetables and gravy.
Bring to a simmer and cook gently for about 40 minutes, or until the beef is done and the vegetables are tender. Take a flat serving dish, form walls of potato all the way around then turn the beef mixture into the centre and serve.
