Italian Salad Dressing is a traditional American recipe for a classic Italianate salad dressing of white wine vinegar and olive oil flavoured with herbs, lemon juice and mustard powder. The full recipe is presented here and I hope you enjoy this classic American version of: Italian Salad Dressing.

Ingredients:
120ml white wine vinegar
6 tbsp water
4 tsp granulated sugar
1 tsp mustard powder
2 tsp lemon juice
2 tsp garlic salt
2 tsp onion salt
2 tsp coarsely-ground black pepper
4 tsp fresh parsley, minced
1 tsp fresh basil, minced
1 tsp fresh oregano, minced
1 tsp fresh thyme, minced
240ml olive oil
Method:
Combine the vinegar, water, sugar, lemon juice, salts, spices and herbs in a bottle or jar with vinegar-proof lids. Shake vigourously until all the ingredients are thoroughly blended and the salts have dissolved then add the olive oil and shake to mix.
Store, sealed, in the refrigerator and shake before use. For a richer flavour you can also add up to 60g finely-grated Parmesan or Pecorino Romano cheeses.
