Sea Aster Pasta is a modern British recipe (based on an Italian original) for a classic dish of pasta served with a sauce of onions, garlic, mushrooms and sea aster leaves. The full recipe is presented here and I hope you enjoy this classic Italian version of: Sea Aster Pasta.

Ingredients:
2 medium onions, chopped
4 garlic cloves, finely sliced
10 mushrooms (ceps are best, but button will do)
30 sea aster leaves, shredded
generous pinch of nutmeg
oil for frying
olive oil or butter
black pepper to taste basil leaves
300g dry pasta, cooked
Method:
Add a little oil to a pan and use this to fry the onions until soft. Add the garlic and the mushrooms and cook until the mushrooms have softened then add the sea aster leaves and cook until wilted.
Season with nutmeg and black pepper then add enough olive oil of butter to flavour the mixture. Stir fry for a few minutes then add a few shredded basil leaves. Add about 300g cooked pasta and stir through. Transfer to serving plates and serve with garlic bread.
