This a rather wonderful spicy South Indian soup that brings together a number of flavours.

Method:

Dry-roast the cumin seeds, mustard seeds and black peppercorns in a frying pan until aromatic and beginning to crack.

Mix the roast spices with all the other ingredients and bring to the boil. Lower the heat and simmer for about 30 minutes. Garnish with the freshly-chopped coriander and serve immediately.
