Ingredients:
250ml vegetable oil
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp freshly-ground black pepper
6 small rib-eye steaks (about 225g each)
1 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground white pepper
1/2 tsp freshly-ground black pepper
Method:
Combine the oil, sliced onion, garlic powder and 1 tbsp black pepper in a glass baking dish (about 30 x 22 x 5cm). Add the steaks and turn to coat in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate over night.
Heat your barbecue (or grill). Combine the paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, white pepper and 1/2 tsp black pepper in a small bowl. Remove the steaks from the marinade then sprinkle each side of the steaks with 1 tsp of the spice mixture.
Place the steaks on your barbecue and cook for about 8 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired level of done-ness. Allow the meat to rest for 5 minutes, cut each steak in half then divide between your serving plates.
