Surf and Turf Kebabs: Classic British recipe for a barbecue skewer of beef and king prawns in an oriental marinade" height="400" width="349" title="British barbecue recipe of Surf and Turf Kebabs.

Ingredients:

500g beef rump steak cut into 24 even-sized pieces
18 raw king prawns

For the Marinade
5 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp soy sauce
3 tbsp lemon juice
4 tbsp sunflower oil

Method:

Peel the prawns, but leave the tails attached.

For the marinade, whisk together the oyster sauce, soy sauce, lemon juice and oil in a bowl. Add the beef, stir to combine and set aside to marinate for 15 minutes. Now add the prawns to the marinade, stir to combine and set aside to marinate for 5 minutes more.

Now remove the beef and the prawns from the marinade (reserve the marinade for later). Thread the beef and the prawns onto skewers, alternating them (if using wooden skewers soak in a bowl of water for 20 minutes before use).

Place on a barbecue over hot coals and grill for about 10 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through. During the cooking brush the kebabs frequently with the reserved marinade.

Serve hot.
