Moroccan Haroseth

Haroseth is one of the six traditional items on the Passover plate and this version comes from the Jewish community of Morocco.

Ingredients:

450g dates, pitted and chopped
360ml sweet, red, Passover wine
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
120g walnuts, coarsely chopped

Method:

Combine the dates and wine in a pan then add the spices and bring to a simmer. Continue cooking until the mixture resembles a soft paste (about 35 minutes), stirring occasionally.

Take off the heat and allow to cool then stir in the walnuts and serve.
