Ingredients:

2 tbsp butter
240g sugar
2 egg yolks, creamed
120ml milk
240g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
2 egg whites, beaten
cinnamon for decoration
chopped nuts for decoration

Method:

Combine the butter and sugar, creaming together, before adding the egg yolks. Then add all the remaining ingredients except the egg whites. Mix to a batter then add the beaten egg whites. Place in a greased, shallow pan. Dot with butter then decorate by sprinkling with sugar, cinnamon and chopped nuts. Bake in moderate oven, 180°C (350°F/Gas Mark 4), until done (about 40 minutes). Don't bake this cake too quickly, otherwise the nuts will sink to bottom.
