Arepas paisa, also known as flat arepas, are very easy to prepare. Characteristic of the region that bears its name, these arepas are slightly thinner than the classic ones, so you can eat them as an accompaniment to your favorite dishes.

Ingredients:

200g of precooked fine corn flour
100ml of water

Method:

Combine the water and flour in a bowl, blending until the mixture is moist but smooth. If necessary, adjust with more water or flour to achieve a consistent consistency.

Heat a pan with cooking spray or 1 drop of oil spread with a paper towel or kitchen brush. Then, wet your hands and take 1 tablespoon of the dough.

Shape it into a ball the size of a golf ball.

Flatten the ball into a 12mm (0.5 in) wide arepa. Set it in the hot pan and cook for approximately 3 minutes, or until it separates from the base of the pan and is lightly browned. Flip over and repeat this process with the other side. Continue cooking for about 3 minutes more.

Serve your arepas paisa with your favourite dish, fill them with ham and cheese for a delicious breakfast, or store them in an airtight container once cooled for a snack.

Like classic arepas, arepas paisas are very versatile. For a delicious and nutritious breakfast, cut your warm arepa paisa in half and fill it with ham and cheese. Heat it in the oven while you prepare your coffee with milk and slice some fruit.
