Ingredients:
675g bacon, cubed
450g shin of beef
1 white cabbage, coarsely chopped
225g carrots, coarsely chopped
1/2 small turnip, coarsely chopped
225g parsnips, coarsely chopped
450g potatoes, coarsely chopped
1 large leek, coarsely chopped
oatmeal
Method:
Add all the ingredients (except the leek) along with about 2 tbsp of the oatmeal to a large pot and cover with plenty of water. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, cover and cook gently for about 2 hours or until the meat is very tender. Add the leek and continue cooking for 10 minutes then serve.
