Spider Web Munch is a modern American recipe for a classic snack of a rice krispie base bound with a mix of chocolate and peanut butter that's topped with the chocolate mix and decorate with a spider web pattern, which makes an excellent Halloween snack. The full recipe is presented here and I hope you enjoy this classic American version of: Spider Web Munch.
Combine the chocolate and 180ml of the peanut butter in a small, heavy-based saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth then take off the heat. Add the sugar and stir vigorously until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
Place the rice krispies in a bowl and pour over 250m of the melted chocolate mixture. Stir to combine then turn this mixture out onto an ungreased baking tray. Spread with a spatula until you have a 25cm diameter circle with a slightly-raised 25mm border. Pour the remaining chocolate mixture into the middle of this and spread out evenly to the border with a spatula. Set aside to cool and harden.
To form the spider web, place the remaining peanut butter in a small plastic bag. Snip off the corner then squeeze the bag to pipe concentric circles on top of the chocolate coating. Use a wooden toothpick to pull through the peanut butter from the centre to the outside, to form the spokes of the spider web.
When done, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until firm. Cut into wedges and serve.
