Mixed spice is the classic British Christmas spice blend that's the UK's equivalent of American pumpkin spice. Mixed spice really is the smell of Christmas. I like to use freshly-grated nutmeg for this as the flavour of the fresh spice is far superior.
Mix all the spices together in a small bowl. Spoon into a jar with a tight fitting lid.
Seal the jar and store in a cool dark place. It should keep well for up to three months.
To convert this into pumpkin pie spice omit the ground coriander seeds and double the amount of cinnamon. Mixed spice has a slightly more savory flavour compared to the sweeter profile of pumpkin pie spice, which is dominated by cinnamon.
