Mallow Flower Syrup is a traditional British recipe for a classic sugar and water syrup flavoured and coloured with common mallow syrup. The full recipe is presented here and I hope you enjoy this classic British version of: Mallow Flower Syrup.
Remove the bases of the mallow flowers then bring the water to a boil, add the flowers, bring to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes then take off the heat, cover and set aside to soak for 12 hours.
After this time strain off the liquid through a fine-meshed sieve. Pour the liquid into a pan, add the sugar then bring to a rapid boil and reduce to a thick syrup. Take off the heat, allow to cool and bottle. Use as a flavoured syrup to pour over ice cream or to sweeten herbal teas.
