Gunpowder Plot Punch is a traditional British recipe for a classic mulled drink of ginger ale, fruit juice and spices that is served warm and which makes an excellent warming drink for Bonfire Night or Halloween. A simple but warming drink for Bonfire night that's suitable for all the family.
Ingredients:
1.5l ginger ale
750ml orange juice
juice of 1 large lemon
pared zest of 1 large lemon
juice of 2 oranges
pared zest of 2 oranges
4 cinnamon sticks
1/2 tsp freshly-grated nutmeg
12 cloves
5 star anise
3cm length of ginger, grated
Method:
Combine the ginger ale and orange juice in a large pan. Heat gently then add all the remaining ingredients.
Bring the mixture just to a boil then take off the heat. Set aside to cool and infuse for a few minutes then ladle into mugs and serve.
