Resurrection Rolls is a traditional American recipe for a classic yeasted sweet roll with a marshmallow centre that bakes hollow and which are typically served at Easter. The full recipe is presented here and I hope you enjoy this classic American version of: Resurrection Rolls.
Combine the first 8 ingredients in a large bowl. Tip onto a floured surface and knead well. Place in a greased bowl, cover and place in a warm spot to rise until doubled in volume. Knock the dough back, divide into 24 balls and flatten. Mix sugar and cinnamon together then melt the butter in a pan. Dip the flattened rolls in the melted margarine and then into the sugar mixture. Wrap each roll around a marshmallow, covering completely. Dip once more into butter, and again into the sugar mixture. Place the rolls in a large greased pan and allow to rise till doubled in volume (approximately 35 min). Place in an oven pre-heated to 190°C and bake for about 15 minutes, or until done.
The centres of the rolls should be empty when cooled...like Christ's empty tomb.
