This pizza is responsible for, what many believe to be, the cardinal sin of pizza making — the mixing of pork products (ham or bacon) with pineapple. Despite this, it remains a classic pizza style and deserves inclusion for that very fact alone.

Ingredients:

1 scone pizza base
180ml sour cream
1/2 tsp onion salt
3 eggs
180g Canadian-style bacon, cut into strips
120g Cheddar cheese, grated
600g tinned pineapple chunks, drained
60g green bell pepper, chopped

Method:

Turn the dough onto a lightly-floured work surface and roll into a 25cm diameter circle. Transfer to a greased baking tray then using your thumb and forefinger roll the edges of the pastry to form a rim.

Mix together the sour cream, onion salt and eggs then pour the mixture over the pizza base. Layer the bacon, pineapple, bell pepper and cheese on top then place in an oven pre-heated to 200°C and bake for about 18 minutes, or edges of the base are golden and crisp.

Allow to cool a little before cutting into wedges and serving.
