Easter Ham is a traditional American recipe for a classic dish of ham cooked in a bag or parcel with a pineapple, apple jelly and lemon juice marinade thickened with cornflour and which is typically served at Easter time. Ingredients:
5kg fully-cooked whole ham (bone in)
600g crushed, tinned, pineapple, undrained
100g apple jelly
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp cornflour (cornstarch)
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Method:
Place all the ingredients, except the ham, in a saucepan and stir until the cornflour dissolves. Bring the mix to a boil and allow to simmer for about 1 minute.
Place the ham in an Oven Cooking Bag (or form a parcel from strong aluminium foil). Pour the sauce over the ham in the bag and seal. Place in an oven pre-heated to 170°C (325°F/Gas Mark 3) for between 2 1/2 to 3 1/4 hours. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
