Brigadeiro (Condensed Milk Toffees) is a traditional Brazilian recipe for a classic toffee of condensed milk, chocolate and sugar cooked down until syrupy. The full recipe is presented here and I hope you enjoy this classic Brazilian version of: Condensed Milk Toffees (Brigadeiro).
Combine the condensed milk, milk powder and butter in a heavy pan and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue cooking and stirring for 2 minutes further, or until the mixture thickens sufficiently to coat the back of a metal spoon.
Take off the heat and carefully scoop the mixture into a bowl. Set aside to cool completely. Once the mixture is cold coat your hands with butter then scoop out about 1 tbsp of the mixture into the palm of your hand. Roll into a small ball, coat in the icing sugar (or chocolate) then place in a paper cup.
In Brazil the confection is often allowed to cool slightly and then eaten straight out of the pot with spoons as a communal dessert.
