Just like in an oven, you can both cook and re-heat pizza in an air fryer. This is a ‘scratch’ version, however, that uses leftover bolognese sauce as the main ingredient of the topping. This uses my perfect pizza dough as the dough base. Which is perfect as the dough can be prepared for a standard pizza and leftovers can be frozen ready for this recipe. You will also need a pizza pan suitable for your air fryer. For the bolognese sauce you can use my air fryer bolognese sauce recipe.
Ingredients:
500g (1 lb) Leftover Pizza Dough (eg
perfect pizza dough)
50ml (1/5 cup) Leftover Bolognese Sauce
200g (7 oz) Cheddar Cheese, grated
2 Medium Tomatoes, sliced
2 tsp dried Oregano, crumbled
1 spring onion (greens only), sliced into rounds
Method:
Roll out your pizza dough into a pizza pan that will fit in the air fryer. Top the dough with the Bolognese sauce, making sure there are no gaps and that you are not going too close to the edges.
Add a generous layer of grated cheese on top of the Bolognese sauce. Finish with the tomato slices and a sprinkling of oregano.
Transfer to your air-fryer basked and cook for 8 minutes in an air-fryer pre-heated to 160°C (320°F) followed by a further 4 minutes at 180°C (360°F) to crisp the dough.
Carefully transfer the pizza to a chopping board top with the sliced spring onion greens, slice and serve.
