Translation
A Dish of Toasted Bread:Take wine and honey and boil them together and skim the surface clean and boil it a long time. Add powdered ginger, pepper and salt. Toast
bread and pour over the sauce. Slice pieces of ginger, garnish with these and serve it forth.
Modern Redaction
Ingredients:
250ml white wine
200ml honey
1 tsp ground
ginger
salt and freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
4 thick slices of
bread, toasted
2 tbsp ginger, julienned
Method:
Combine the wine and honey in a pan. Bring to a boil, skim the surface then boil for a further 20 minutes, or until thickened.
Toast the bread, cut into triangles and arrange on a serving dish. Pour over the wine and honey mixture, garnish with the ginger and serve.
