This recipe comes from a number of sources and is represented here as an 'average' recipe for the Medieval 'sweet' spice mix that's usually employed to season desserts and fruit.

Ingredients:

1 tbsp aniseed
1 tbsp fennel seeds
1 tbsp ground hyssop
4 tbsp sugar

Method:

Simply grind all the ingredients together in a pestle and mortar and store in an air-tight jar. This will keep for several months.
