Dull:
Mewn powlen cymysgwch ynghyd y blawd, powdwr codi, sinamwn a'r nytmeg. Ychwanegwch y menyn cyn cymysgu yn ysgafn i fewn i'r blawd gyda'ch bysedd.
Ychwanegwch yr wyau wedi eu curo.
Cyfunwch y ffrwythau, pîl cymysg a'r siwgwr. Ychwanegwch y gymysgfa yma i'r blawd am y naill gyda'r llefrith.
Cymysgwch popeth nes fod y cytew yn llyfn yna trosglwyddwch i dun bara wedi ei iro.
Gosogwch yng nghanol popty wedi ei gynhesu i 160C. Pobwch am awr, nes fod y gacen yn euraith ar y tu allan as wedi coginio drywodd.
Gadewch iddo oeri yn y tun am 10 munud, cyn troi allan ar resel gwifren i oeri'n gyfan gwbwl.
English Translation
This is an traditional cake from the Ffestining area. It was baked almost daily to be served to guests and workers.
Ingredients:
425g of flour
465g of brown sugar
100g of butter
225g of sultanas
90g of mixed peel
30g glacé cherries, chopped
1 tsp of freshly-grated nutmeg
1 tsp of ground cinnamon
250ml of milk
4 eggs
5 tsp of baking powder
Method:
In a bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add the butter before rubbing gently into the flour with your fingers.
Add the beaten eggs.
Combine the fruit, mixed peel and sugar. Add this mixture to the flour alternating with the milk.
Mix everything together until the batter is smooth then transfer to a greased loaf tin.
Bake in the middle of an oven preheated to 160C. Bake for an hour, until the cake is golden on the outside and cooked through.
Leave to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
