Cream together the butter and sugar in a small bowl until light and fluffy. Add the egg, beating thoroughly to combine then add the flour and beat to mix.
Spread the dough on the base and about 3cm up the side of a 22cm diameter springform cake tin. Tansfer to an oven pre-heated to 220°C and bake for 5 minutes. Set aside to cool then fill.
