Fresco de Arrayan is a traditional El Salvadorean recipe for a classic drink of water flavoured with arrayan (Chilean myrtle) leaves and sweetened with honey that's served chilled. The full recipe is presented here and I hope you enjoy this classic El Salvadorean version of: Fresco de Arrayan.
Lightly crush the arrayan leaves then place in a pan and add the water. Bring to a simmer, take off the heat then cover and set aside for 20 minutes to infuse.
Strain through a fine-meshed sieve then sweeten to taste and place in the refrigerator to chill.
Typically this is made in the morning and served at lunchtime.
