Dominica jumalikud pelmeenid, or Dominica's Divine Dumplings, are a traditional dish from Dominica Cuisine that are sure to delight your taste buds. These delectable dumplings are perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special gathering with friends.

Ingredients:

250g plain (all-purpose) flour
1/2 tsp salt
125ml water
250ml (1 cup) of the minced (ground) meat, fish or vegetable filling of your choice

Method:

Sift together the flour and salt into a large bowl. Gradually add the water, bringing the ingredients together as a dough. Once a dough forms, knead this until smooth. Shape into a ball, return to the bowl, cover and set aside to rest for 15 minutes.

Turn the dough out onto a floured work surface then roll out to about 5mm thick and cut out circles with a pastry cutter, mug or glass.

Place a spoonful of your choice of filling in the centre of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal (you can make half moons, purses or pasty shapes).

Bring a large pan of water to a boil. Carefully drop the dumplings into the boiling water and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until they float to the surface.

Remove the dumplings from the water and serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce or hot sauce.
