Chilisill (Chilli Herring) a Classic Swedish recipe for a starter of pickled herring blended with a creme fraiche sauce containing chilli, garlic and paprika.
Ingredients:
400g (2 tins) pickled herring
200ml crème fraîche
1 red chilli, minced (or to taste)
1/2 tsp paprika
1 garlic clove, finely minced
salt and freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
Method:
Drain the herrings.
In a bowl, mix together the crème fraîche, chilli, paprika and garlic.
Carefully fold the herring into the sauce and season lightly with salt and black pepper.
Serve.
