Ingredients:

165g plain (All Purpose) flour
1/8 tsp Salt
3 1/2 tbsp Softened Butter (not melted)
Water

Method:

Sift together the flour and salt in a bowl.

Mix in softened butter and while mixing, slowly add in a small amounts of water at a time until dough becomes soft and pliable.

Sprinkle your work surface with flour and knead the dough on this until smooth.

Divide the dough into 5 pieces. Roll each piece into a thin, round shape.

Heat a pan with a small amount of oil. Place one roti in the pan and cook until it begins to brown. Flip the roti and brown on the other side. Repeat with the remainder of the rotis.

Serve to accompany curries. Traditionally these are used like wraps to keep the curry inside as a filling. See the Cayman Style Curry Chicken Roti recipe for how this works.
