This is one of the coolest air fryer recipes I’ve come across so far. These soft pull-apart rolls are wonderful and easy to make. They will even keep for up to 5 days.
Ingredients:
60ml (¼ cup) lukewarm water
2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
3 tbsp granulated white sugar divided
300g (2 ¼ cups) strong white Bread flour
1 tsp sea salt
120ml (½ cup) milk
4 tbsp softened unsalted butter divided
Coarse salt for garnishing (optional)
Method:
Combine the water, yeast, and 1 tsp of granulated white sugar in a small cup. Stir to dissolve, then set aside for 10 minutes, until the yeast mixture is frothy.
Combine bread flour, remaining granulated sugar, and salt to a large bowl and mix until combined. Add yeast mixture, milk, and 3 tbsp of softened butter and mix until combined. Use your hands to clump the dough together, then transfer to a lightly-floured work surface. Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. (You could also use a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook for this step.)
Transfer the dough in a greased bowl, cover with clingfilm (plastic wrap), and allow it to proove in a warm area until it’s almost doubled in volume (about 1 – 1 ½ hours).
In the meantime, line the bottom of the air fryer basket with parchment paper
Once risen place the dough on lightly-floured work surface and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then transfer to the lined air fryer basket. Set them next to each other, with the sides just touching. Close the air fryer and allow the rolls to rise again for 45 minutes to 1 hour in the closed air fryer (do not turn it on at this stage).
When ready to cook, turn on the air fryer and set the temperature to 150°C (300°F) and bake for 15-18 minutes, until the rolls are done, and golden on top.
Brush the rolls with the remaining butter and sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
